Re-enactment

UPDATE OF RE-ENACTMENT!!
24th was a fantastic day at the sheltered accomadation, if you had read our blog earlier you would have seen that we were orginising a re-enactment day for the residents. Jamie lees mam got her friends from the 42nd field hospital to dance and have fun with the residents. They really enjoyed the time and they had a great sing along and dance with us.We also had a tombola on and a small buffet. Apparently some of the residents actually told the people from 42nd field hospital that they love our company and there so happy we go down, and that brought a smile to our faces. We all participated by getting dressed up or putting a bit of make-up on, but we really looked the part, and so did some of the residents-bless them! We would just like to thank, 42nd field hospital and also the residents and friends that went on the day it really made us been more positive.LAST BUT NOT LEAST,WE WOULD LIKE TO SAY WE ACTUALLY RAISED £50 THAT DAY, JUST OFF A TOMBOLA SO WE ARE GOING TO PUT IT AWAY FOR KEEPS FOR NOW! Below are some photographs + a video.

Elderly Computer Classes

Aswell as taking the residents on outings, we hope to bring them into school and teach them how to use a computer in our computer classes. This we then hope will bridge the gap further as other pupils will interact with the elderly; therefore building confidence on both sides. The sheltered accomodation is planning to get a computer for the residents; so we then came up with the idea of teaching the residents how to use a computer.

Radio Hartlepool

102.4 radio hartlepool. FANTASTIC NEWS, WE HAVE BEEN ON THE RADIO!!!! it was a great experiance and it really got our confidence up,we spoke to the minimum of 22 thousand people.WOW!! The man that was speaking to us whilst on the radio asked people see if they could donate anything, and straight away we had a x-manor pupil ringing up and donated £10 pound which was really good news. We were on the radio from about 10:17am till about 11, so that the listeners could get a clear view of what we were doing. Mr Gill and Miss Pitt also attended and got to speak on the radio, it was a fantastic day for us all.We spoke about a lot of different things such as, what we would like to do with the money if we win, how it will effect the residents and also spoke about the journey to london, and who were going to be judging us.PICTURES SHOULD BE COMING SOON!!

Logo

From the very begining of our campaign we have had a logo witch seemed to be a bit simple at the time so we decided it should change. As you can see there isant really much to it, so we thought a change was needed.
We liked the idea of the green oval, so we developed this idea a bit. The writing stayed the same aswell but the font is now different.
As you can see there is now four ovals, two a pale green and the other two a darker green. It is not much different but it is a bit less simple, but not to over the top.
The ovals act as chains linking together, linking the old and younger generations. If you have any ideas about our logo please let us know, we would love to hear your opinion.

IDEAS!!

1)One of our ideas, in which we have just came up with is a creative day at the accomadaiton, where you can design your own things, such as cups/plates anything really, and we will be able to help them make the thing they want to make. We could also bake cakes and things with them.
2)EASTER,we could play an easter egg hunt where they get clues and if they solve the clue they have to go and find the egg, however if they are unable to physically go for the egg, thats where we come in and support by getting it for them, or even different activies which have a easter theme.
3)Making a website is one of the ideas we also thought of,we actually came up with this on the day we went to london for the CHANGEit campaigne. The reason we wanted to make a site is because we want to broadcast our idea more, our town already knows about us, as we were in the 'hartlepool mail' with our two teachers Miss Pitt and Mr Gill, because they were the ones who took us to london.
4)This idea we think would be the hardest because it is getting the other schools involved, we would have to see who is very realiable, and who will take care of the elderly like we do.
5)We have heard of another fantastic idea in which our friends Ashleigh Waller has came up with. The idea is putting on a talent show in the accomadation, where the residents or their family and friends could perform anything they want, and maybe we could pick three winners and give them a prize, also we think this is a great idea because most of the residents always join in.
ANY OTHER IDEAS WILL BE UPDATED!

Also,we are looking for sponsors so that we can have more fun with the residents when we take them out, or buy them gifts.

The Future

Were hoping to do a lot in the future, and we never want it to end. We are going to make more events for the accomadation residents such as outings, and trips. Also we want to make their home lifes better, such as more updated activites. We are wanting to buy them a TV or even save up to give them one, because one of our new ideas is play on the nintendo WII with them. If anyone has any ideas we would like to hear them, and we will keep you informed too.

Regular Days At The Accomadation

Our days are fantastic, theres nothing else to say. We never come back with a negative point to discuss. Mr White, the headteacher always gets filled in with the details of what we have done on the day. Friday is the best when we go down as they play bowls. Bill one of the residents help us with how to hold the bowling balls and at which angle you hold it at. Its great when we just sit there and relax witht the residents to, we have us laughing out heads of at the things they come out with, there really funny and great to get along with. They talk about getting there hair done, or going out with there family. ITS AWESOME!!

Fun Day

In the school holidays, we arranged a fun day for the sheltered accomadation. We decorated the sitting area with balloons and banners, also we put some food on for their dinner such as sandwiches and also cakes and biscuites, the usual snacks. We had a tombola in which the residents could have a go of, also because it was our day we made the drinks and refreshments all free because they have to pay any other time. The activies we done was; games, singing and sharing stories, this was on from 12-2pm it was a fantastic day. Also the great thing was, we usally only have at least 15 residents that come and chat to us, however on the day we actually had more than 25, and also family members joined in too.

Opening day

Last october, we went to the sheltered accomadation were the elderly live. When we got there we all were a bit shy at first, however we soon got involved, with all the activites that was going on. There were people from the fire brigade and food groups. The people at the home all seemed to enjoy out, and so did we. After the day, we went to our head teacher and we said how fantastic it was, and he said it could be a regular thing. So that was fantastic news!!!

The London Journey :D

We had a fantastic day yesterday, in fact it was amazing. We loved meeting the other campaigners and we think their ideas are really good, everyone has a big chance of winning. Our group would like to thank Heather and everyone from CHANGEit, for organising the day, it was great.
The skills we have learnt from the day will really help us prepare for the dragon's den which is coming up this month. If anyone would like to discuss anything just get in touch, thanks.
